My clients hire me most frequently to offer one of the following services:
- Professional Skills Training Sessions
- Participatory Workshops
- Conference Talks
Professional Skills Training Sessions
In my role as trainer, I adapt the content of a professional skills training session completely towards the learning needs of my target audience.
A recent example is the two-day session on geopolitical trends analysis that I gave to an international organization. Another professional skills training session to German army officers was about geopolitical scenario planning.
I also work as a facilitator for organizations that seek to raise their geopolitical and economic risk awareness.
For example, I presented scenarios for several countries in the Middle East to managers of various bank departments. The subsequent participatory workshop revolved around one central question: How could the company reduce the negative impact of my scenarios on its effectiveness in this region?
Some of my other participatory workshops focused on the economy of Vietnam, the future of the eurozone and the geopolitics of the Arctic.
Another common role of me is as a conference speaker for business (wo)men, politicians or civil servants. My conference talks about geopolitical and economic risks balance between theory and practice in an effective way.
For example, I recently explained how gas and oil pipelines can be framed during a conference talk to members of an international organization. Other complex topics that I clarified during earlier conference talks were the economic risks in Central Africa and the geopolitical risks in the Middle East.
Consultancy Work, Panel Participation and Country Risk Reports
I can also help your organization as a consultant. A key example here is my work for a government agency on how to make sense of changes in the twenty-first century world order.
I was also panel chairman or panel member during various seminars on geopolitical risks. Once I chaired a panel debate among Middle East experts. On other occasions, I was member of a panel of geopolitical experts.
Clients further asked me at times to help them in my capacity as country risk analyst. My long experience with writing country risk reports was very helpful here.
Finally, I work as a guest lecturer at universities and academic institutions. So far, I have given guest lectures in Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
These lectures often combine two or more of the following topics:
- Country Risk Analysis, Macro-Economic Indicators and Emerging Markets
- Political Risk Analysis, National Indicators and Economic Impact Assessment
- Geopolitics, Geostrategy and Geoeconomics in the Twenty-First Century
- Geopolitical Scenario Planning, Foreign Policy Strategy and National Security
- Critical Discourse Analysis, Social Semiotics and Text-Image Relations (Media Analysis Methods 1)
- Frame Analysis, Visual Framing and Fake News (Media Analysis Methods 2)
